When you get a dog or puppy you want it to fit into your lifestyle and family easily, right? You want it to be a wonderful companion who is a delight to have around. You love your dog, and yet it may have a few natural behaviors that you'd like to correct or modify in order to make your dog truly well mannered.

I understand. Private lessons may be just what you need. We can schedule them after work or on weekends.

What you'll learn

In our sessions you'll learn the basic obedience behaviors (sit, down, stay, come, "look at me when I say your name"). But more importantly, you'll also learn the training principles that will equip you to solve behaviors problems and teach your dog any behavior you want! It's easy and fun. And you'll build a wonderful and satisfying relationship with your dog in the process. The method I teach you is called "clicker training" and it uses positive reinforcement and clear communication. You and your dog will love it!

Flexible, private sessions for busy people! Group classes, too!

Not everyone can commit to a full 8 weeks-- so I offer both 4-week "mini-sessions" and a full 8-week private series. This is great for people who travel sporadically or have shifting commitments and don't know from one week to the next what their schedule might look like.

What is "clicker training?"

Clicker training is a very fun, very effective method of training that uses a special sound (made with a clicker, or your own tongue-click) to indicate to your dog, "What you did at the moment I made that noise was really good, and now I'm going to give you a treat, but I wanted you to know exactly what it was you did that earned the treat".

Clicker training is not some new gimmick, it's based on operant conditioning behavioral science principles that have been verified and tested for decades. We teach and polish new behaviors using this method, and then wean the dogs off the feedback (and treats) once the behavior is strong. We don't need to use choke chains and prong collars, and we don't use shock "e-collars". We use gentle, "dog-friendly" techniques and tools, like the Gentle Leader head halter. And what you learn in your private class is 100% applicable to influencing the behavior of your kids, your spouse, your boss, and everyone else in your life. You're going to love this.
